Aloo Ticki or Aloo cutlet – Perfect Indian snack


It is one of the most popular snack in India.

4-5 medium size boiled potatoes
1/2 cup crushed peas
1/2 cup boiled chana daal(Optional)
1 tbsp grated or finely chopped ginger
1-2 finely chopped green chili
1 tsp red chili powder
salt to taste
3 – 4 tbsp bread crumbs
1 tsp garam masala
some freshly chopped cilantro
Oil for cooking
Aloo tikki or Potato cutlet or Veggie burger

  • Mash the boiled potatoes and make sure there are no lumps.
  • Mix all the other ingredients in a separate bowl for filling
  • Make small balls of the mixture by placing in between your palms and fill the above stuffing in the center. Roll the balls again and press it to flatten a bit.Coat each takki with bread crumbs
  • You can either shallow fry these or deep fry depending upon your choice until golden brown.Remove on a kitchen tissue paper to allow the excess oil to be soaked.
  • Serve this either with yogurt or ketchup or with chole or with tamarind chutney or with cilantro and mint chutney or you can out put this as a patty in the burger and make a delicious veggie burger
